Teens Wrapping up House That Students Built

The Houst that Students Built is a youth volunteer opportunity offered by Housing Availability partner, Habitat for Humanity. The project is the cornerstone of their youth program, enabling you from all over Tacoma to participate in funding and building a Habitat home.

This year four new student groups were involved in the project, bringing 45 new students into the program. In all 149 on-site volunteers helped build the home in 2005 and 232 students were involved in the fundraising efforts. The new groups raised just over $1,200 for the project and $10,500 was raised overall.

A matching grant provided by United Way helped encourage the students. In all, student groups raised over $3,000 in additional funding over last year.

With the House that Students Built nearly complete, Habitat is already looking towards next year's project.
