United Way of Pierce County 's New Focus

Our community told us that housing availability, child and youth development and access to healthcare were the toughest issues in Pierce County. We listened. We are now working with partners in our community to solve these problems while protecting the safety net of services.

Community Solutions Fund
Protects the safety net of services by supporting more than 100 local programs and helping solve the toughest community issues.

Housing Availability
Increase housing for people who are homeless, or unable to afford permanent shelter at market rates.

OUR GOALS:
1. Increase by at least 25% the number of youth and other volunteers building, rehabilitating, maintaining or improving the accessibility of affordable housing.

2. Increase the number of units of affordable housing being built, remodeled, rehabilitated and maintained.

OUR GOALS:

2. Annually increase the number of children who receive childcare from providers who include developmental activities as part of their service.

Help ensure Pierce County youth have organized and constructive activities at safe and secure locations after school.

OUR GOALS:
Annually increase the number of youth who participate in organized and constructive after-school activities at professionally managed sites near their homes or schools.

Help ensure the public’s ability to access healthcare in our community.

OUR GOALS:

2. Increase the number of Pierce County citizens enrolled in small business healthcare plans.

3. Increase the number of health care providers in Pierce County in targeted, high-need areas of care.
