Annual Meeting and Executive Day of Caring Slated for Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

United Way of Pierce County will hold its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 27th at the Landmark Convention Center. Local executives and community leaders will learn about the 2004 community accomplishments and will gain insight on the condition of human services in Pierce County. Learn how United Way will work in partnership with volunteers, human service providers, business and community leaders, unions and local governments to resolve the toughest issues in Pierce County.

Speakers for the event include: Alan Spence, 2004 Board Chair and Vice President of Administration, Pierce College; Linda Gutmann, 2005 Board Chair and Director of Corporate Finance, Russell Investment Group and Rick Allen, President, United Way of Pierce County.

In addition, the new Board of Directors and Board Chair will be announced at the 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting.

Immediately following the meeting, local CEOs and top-level business leaders in attendance will roll up their sleeves and participate in the Executive Day of Caring. Executives will spend the remainder of the day performing a number of projects for nine local partner agencies and nonprofit organizations. Some of the projects include planting flowers and hanging baskets with developmentally disabled individuals, serving lunch to needy patrons at a soup kitchen, and conducting mock job interviews with students learning English as a second language.
