Off-to-college Campaign

More than 2,800 students in Pierce County are homeless. Over 150 of those students are on track to graduate in June and you can help them head off to college with the necessities to be successful.

The Off-to-College Campaign gives you the opportunity to help these students by donating any of the following items:

  • Laptop Computer
  • MS Office/Student
  • Flash Drives
  • Backpacks
  • Highlighter Pens
  • Pens (Pens, pencils, pencil sharpener)
  • Binders and Paper
  • 3 x 5 Cards / Sticky Notes
  • Surge Protector
  • Alarm Clock
  • Toiletries (Towels, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush)
Donations may be brought to United Way of Pierce County at 1501 Pacific Ave, Suite 400 in Tacoma. Cash donations will also be accepted to purchase the above items. Please make all checks payable to United Way of Pierce County and mark them OTCC.

The deadline for donations is May 24, 2013.

Help Needed to Send Homeless to College

In 2012, 50 homeless youth graduated from the Tacoma School District. Twenty-nine of them went to college, including 16 who participated in the Off-To-College Campaign. Individuals and businesses donated $5,250 in cash and necessities to help them start college.
