State Farm Insurance, headquartered
in Dupont, recently received the "Community Leadership
Award". This award is given to companies who support
their community in addition to running a United Way campaign.
These include, volunteering with United Way, participating
in Day of Caring, sponsorships, Loaned Executive program,
Back-to-School program, and Gifts-in-Kind. State Farm was
the only company in Pierce County to participate in all seven
categories.
State Farm has already begun working on
this year's campaign. Their signature event includes the "Pie-in-the-Face"
event in which jars are setup for participating managers and
employees vote by filling the jars with donations. Managers
with the most and least amount of donations receive a pie
at the end of the campaign. Last year that event raised over
$3,000. We congratulate State Farm as they continue to support
United Way "like a good neighbor."
