Qualifications for Earning the Distinguished Letter in Community Service

  • You must be a student in grades 9 –12 attending any public or private high school in Pierce County during the 2007-2008 school year. Home-schooled students affiliated with a school district are also eligible to apply.
  • You must have completed at least 145 hours of service from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009.
  • At least 50 of these 145 (or more) hours MUST be in a non-school related activity unaffiliated with your school (i.e. on your own, church group, Boy Scouts, etc.)
  • You must volunteer time for at least one project connected with your high school ( i.e. Key Club, peer tutoring, campus clean-up, etc.)
  • You must submit your Community Service Verification forms for each service opportunity with the application. If you do multiple activities with one supervisor, only ONE form is required.
  • You must submit your Community Service Verification forms for each project no later than April 1, 2008 .
  • Only pages 3 & 4 are required from the application, however, you will have multiple copies of page 4.
  • Deadline for applications is April 1, 2009 (Postmarked April 1, 2009 will be accepted)
