October Project Summary

Nineteen youth (from 10 different Pierce County schools), volunteered all day October 13th to renovate the exterior of the main office of GATEWAYS for Youth and Families.  Volunteers painted the building, planted window boxes, and cleaned the storage garage.

Based on nationally recognized standards for the value of volunteer time, the hours volunteered by the group total $1,400!

GATEWAYS was founded in South Puget Sound in 1890, making it the oldest charity in the state and one of the oldest in the country.  It provides access to programs and resources that empower youth and families to get support, learn new skills and become positive citizens
