The Willie Stewart Community Service Scholarship program celebrates and recognizes Pierce County high school seniors who have given back to their community through volunteer service.

Scholarships are funded through the annual Willie Stewart Community Service Golf Classic. Individuals and businesses from throughout the county join Willie Stewart to sponsor the tournament and the net proceeds go to the scholarship fund.

Additional scholarship proceeds are provided through Youth United, a United Way of Pierce County program designed to increase youth volunteerism and involvement in the community.

Scholarships in the amount of $750 to $2000 will be given to graduating seniors who are going on to further education and who have spent a minimum of 50 hours in the past year serving their community.

Scholarship applications must be recieved by April 1, 2008 to be considered.

If you need more information on the Willie Stewart Community Service Scholarship, please contact Bethany Opstedal at (253) 597-6685 or bethanyo@uwpc.org
