Campaign Chair, Bob Magee
Bob Magee serves as President and CEO of American
Shipping Group, Inc. American Shipping Group is a holding
company that comprise the blue water domestic and military
support shipping businesses of Saltchuk Resources. These businesses
consist of:
Totem Ocean Trailer Express. TOTE owns and operates
four ships and 1,500 trailers. It is in the liner, common
carrier business connecting Tacoma, Washington with Anchorage,
Alaska.
Interocean Ugland Management, is a technical
ship management and ship crewing company. IUM today manages
and operates twenty-two vessels.
Sea Star Line L.L.C., a common carrier operating
between Florida and Puerto Rico. Sea Star Lines operates two
combo vessels. This is a partnership with Matson Navigation
and Taino Star Investments.
Mr. Magee is a board member of Cruise West,
a shipping firm not associated with Saltchuk. He also serves
on the board of the Thea Foss Waterway Development Authority,
a real estate development function of the City of Tacoma,
Washington. Mr. Magee is the current chairman of the Tacoma-Pierce
County Chamber and sits on the Advisory Board for the University
of Alaska Fairbanks Museum of the North.
Mr. Magee joined TOTE in May 1986 as Vice President
of Marine Operations. Prior to TOTE, he was with Puerto Rico
Marine Management, Inc., as Senior Vice President of Vessel
Operations, 1981-85. Before that he was a manager at Sun Shipbuilding
in Pennsylvania and served as a deck officer in the Merchant
Marine for four years.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Magee has a
B.S. degree in Marine Transportation from the U.S. Merchant
Marine Academy; Kings Point, New York, and an M.B.A. in Finance
from Widener University; Chester, Pennsylvania. He studied
Advanced Management at Harvard University.
