Youth United

We believe in our young peoples’ ability to become leaders in the advancement of our community and recognize their capacity to create solutions to many of the challenges we face as a society. It’s never too early to get empowered, by experiencing the value of a giving spirit and the benefits that come with living united.

United Way of Pierce County’s Youth United offers a variety of ways to connect youth with meaningful volunteer opportunities. By volunteering your time and services, you can discover and develop skills, apply your academic knowledge through services and learning activities, receive recognition for your efforts and have fun helping others. For more information, please contact Bethany Opstedal at (253) 597-6685 or youthunited@uwpc.org.

VARSITY LETTER IN COMMUNITY SERVICE
Each year, United Way of Pierce County partners with Pierce County schools to recognize and reward students for their volunteer efforts in the community by presenting them with a varsity letter in community service. Participating can help you develop fundamental leadership skills, scholarship opportunities, and most importantly, it can give you the opportunity to help others in your community. See how you can get involved and learn more about program qualifications.

MONTHLY SERVICE PROJECTS
Give an hour. Give a Saturday. Give your best. Youth United offers monthly volunteer opportunities to make a difference in the community. See how you can get involved. To participate, contact Bethany Opstedal at (253) 597-6685 or youthunited@uwpc.org.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
You can make a real difference in the community through the Youth Leadership Council. Through this year-round service opportunity, you can help drive and develop the goals for Youth United programs and services. See how you can apply for the YLC.

YOUTH ENGAGED IN SERVICE
Are you an 8th or 9th grader interested in becoming more involved in the civic advancement of your school and the larger community? The Youth Engaged in Service (Y.E.S) training program can give you the tools and resources to initiate positive changes that can influence the condition of all members of our community. Find out more about Y.E.S.

SCHOLARSHIPS
United Way of Pierce County believes that, through hard work and determination, all of Pierce County’s young people have the potential to attain their long-term educational goals. Providing scholarship opportunities is one of the best ways we can give back to our youth leaders and volunteers who have given so much of their time and support. There are a variety of scholarships available. See how you can apply.
