Changing lives takes work.
At United Way of Pierce County, we address our community’s most complex social issues affecting children, families and individuals. By developing innovative, effective collaboratives and initiatives with the best-in-class partners, together, we are improving conditions in our community. We focus on initiatives that are designed to jump-start and maintain sustainable solutions for low-income families and drive change by aligning public and private support.
By investing in programs and initiatives that provide families with the skills and resources, they can take an active role in their own success. An early investment in our children and their families helps remove the barriers preventing them from breaking the cycle of poverty. By focusing on Strong Families, Successful Kids and Stable Individuals, we are creating a thriving, connected community. When our community thrives, we all win.
Our inaugural From Poverty to Possibilities event was part of a series of community conversations that have been gaining momentum over the past few years. It was our largest event of its kind and the depth and scope will hopefully kick off the first of many more conversations -- that move far beyond talk and into action!
