VARSITY LETTER IN COMMUNITY SERVICE
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Each year, United Way of Pierce County partners with Pierce County schools to recognize and reward students for their volunteer efforts in the community. Students who volunteer 145 hours or more of service in a year can earn a school varsity letter, the same as those earned by athletes and musicians.

The 2016-17 school year is the final year for this program at United Way of Pierce County. Please check with your school counselor or district office, as some districts will be continuing the program for their students.

HOW TO APPLY

Applicants must meet all requirements and guidelines. Those requirements include:

A minimum of 145 total community service hours, with:

  • GPA of at least 2.0
  • At least 45 United Way-aligned service hours
  • General volunteer hours (no minimum, but total hours submitted must equal at least 145)
  • Maximum number of hours allowed for service outside of Pierce County is 100 hours

Please review the 2016-2017 Program Guidelines & FAQs and 2016-17 Application Instructions for more information.  CLICK HERE for a sampling of organizations that qualify as United Way-aligned.
