YOUTH UNITED PHOTO CONTEST
How do you make a difference?
Doing service projects while hanging out with friends. Showing your passion through art or song. Holding a food drive at your school.
Submit your photo or video and story, song or poem of how you LIVE UNITED. All entries must include a LIVE UNITED prop like a t-shirt, button or use your creativity to make your own prop or to give our LIVE UNITED shirt your own flair. Order you own shirt now!
A panel of judges will select the most inspiring entries and the public will make the final choice by voting online. Winners will be selected for a photoshoot and featured in Youth United posters in 2009.

Contest Rules and Terms of Eligibility
1. Contestants must submit a photo release form signed by each recognizable subject 18 years or older or guardian of subjects under 18,
allowing the image of all recognizable photo subjects to be used by United Way of Pierce County. Photos without release forms will be
disqualified.
2. Contestants must guarantee that they created and own the photos they submit.
3. Release forms witha description of 100 words or less of how you LIVE UNITED should be emailed to photocontest@uwpc.org or
postmarked by the contest deadline of December 31, 2008 and mailed to: United Way of Pierce County ATTN: Youth United Photo Contest | PO BOX

4. Winners agree to allow United Way of Pierce County to publish their photograph in print or electronic form and to use the photo for
promotional purposes without compensation. Credit will be given to the winning photographers for any image(s) used or displayed.
5. One entry per contestant.
6. Upload photo or video to www.flickr.com and send to “Youth United photo contest” group.
TO UPLOAD YOUR PHOTO
To upload a photo you must have a flickr account. Accounts are free.
If you have a flickr account. Sign in.
If you do not have a flickr accounty, sign up for the free account at www.flickr.com.
Follow the online directions to upload your photo.
Once you have uploaded the photo, go to the groups tab at the top of the page.
In the FIND A GROUP search box, type “Youth United photo contest”. Select this group from the list.
Under the group name, you will be given the option of "Joining the Group". Select this option.
Once you have joined, go back to the "Home" page of your account and select your photo.
Across the top you will see several options. Select "Send to Group" and then select “Youth United photo contest”. This will upload your photo to the group site.

7. All photos must be uploaded by midnight on December 31, 2008.
8. All photos must be at least 1,000 x 750 pixels. All videos must be under one minute.
9. Photos may be color or black and white.
10. Winners will be notified early February 2009.
11. Employees and family members of employees of United Way of Pierce County are not eligible for the contest.
The Youth United Photo Contest is intended to promote community engagement among youth, honor and recognize people who take action to improve the lives of others and inspire others to recognize the many ways - great and small - all of us can make a difference.
