Basic Needs & Supportive Services
8% of Pierce County households are living in poverty according to Federal Poverty Level guidelines. But another 23% of our community is struggling to make ends meet. We call these families ALICE because they are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed. UWPC focuses on investing in results-oriented projects and programs that ensure a strong safety net of basic needs resources to stabilize households, along with supportive services designed to break down barriers to self-sufficiency to help lift families out of poverty. Our motivated cohort of organizations takes what they learn about their participants using the Self-Sufficiency Matrix and works together to address participant needs more holistically.
