PLANNED GIVING

A LASTING LEGACY

Address your family needs, plant the seeds to secure the future for your community through a gift to our endowment fund. A gift to the community can also be a gift to your family.

When you leave a legacy to the community through a charitable gift, you may also shelter assets for your heirs. Through United Way, your gift will help our most vulnerable populations of families to be economically stable, and their kids to get a strong start in school. By generating a tax deduction, the gift also leaves more assets in the hands of your heirs to meet family needs.

Set aside just 5 percent of your estate and watch it grow.

Your gift to United Way of Pierce County’s Endowment Fund, will grow over time and enable United Way to continue making measureable improvements in your community.

THE CHARITABLE GIVING ADVANTAGE

A simple bequest is the most flexible and effective way to leave a legacy, but you may also want to consider:

APPRECIATED SECURITES

If you purchased stock that has grown in value, you may donate it to a nonprofit and avoid the capital gains on that increased value.

IRA GIFTS

The IRS will allow you to make a donation from your IRA to a nonprofit of your choice, without paying a penalty.

GIFTS OF PROPERTY

If you have property you would like to donate to a nonprofit you can sell the property without paying capital gains and receive a tax deduction on the appraised value.
