2021 - From Poverty to Possibilities Summit

Heather McGhee to Keynote From Poverty to Possibilities

United Way of Pierce County’s 5th Annual Summit on Poverty

Heather

May 25, 2021, Tacoma, Wash. — From Poverty to Possibilities is Pierce County’s signature community summit that takes on barriers to economic equity. This year's summit will focus on racial equity and how we can prosper together. Attendees will broaden their knowledge and ownership about systemic barriers to moving out of poverty by focusing on building bridges to move forward and dismantle systems and structures that are holding us back.

This year’s keynote speaker is Heather McGhee. A renowned expert on the American economy, HEATHER MCGHEE is one of the most brilliant and influential thinkers exploring inequality today. Both her viral TED talk and her instant New York Times bestseller The Sum of Us reveal the devastating true cost of racism—not just for people of color, but for everyone. Deeply stirring, intelligent, and compassionate, McGhee’s talks offer us an actionable roadmap during one of the most critical—and most troubled—periods in history.

Over 300 community leaders attended this event in the past, which will be virtual this year and we hope you'll join us.
