Our Impact

Basic needs is an essential component of the social safety net. South Sound 211 is a free helpful that connects people facing barriers to hundreds of services and programs including utilities, transportation, behavioral health, housing and employment. The helpline supports Pierce, Thurston and Lewis Counties. Last year, our South sound 211 received 80,087 contacts for assistance with community resources.

As a result of UWPC investments, 143,708 individuals had access to food, shelter and other essentials to help households move from crisis to stability.

To Date: Through your investments and our community partners, 6,300 families are moving towards self-sufficiency and on their way to building wealth.

United Way of Pierce County is driving change to fight the complex challenges of poverty and racism by creating strategic partnerships between businesses, nonprofits and the private sector, and harnessing the generosity, talent, and energy of local individuals and families.

Basic Needs

Basic Needs is an essential component of the social safety net and helped more than 112,554 people last year. By ensuring basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter are met, individuals and families can move out of crisis and into stability.

Center for Strong Families helps residents face financial challenges head on. Individuals get free one-on-one financial and career coaching as well as resources that will help them thrive and break the cycle of poverty.
