Annie Frisbie is a mission-driven Chief Development Officer whose leadership is rooted in equity, community, and the belief that every individual deserves stability and the chance to thrive. With over 16 years of experience in philanthropy, social services, Financial industry and community impact, Annie brings a rare blend of strategic vision, heart-centered leadership, and results-driven fundraising.
Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, Annie’s lived experience fuels her passion for creating pathways out of poverty for families who are working hard yet still struggling to make ends meet. She currently serves as the Chief Development Officer at United Way of Pierce County, where she leads the organization’s Bold Goal to lift 15,000 families out of poverty by 2028. Under her leadership, United Way has strengthened major gifts, expanded corporate partnerships, launched dynamic women-centered giving circles, and built storytelling-driven campaigns that center dignity and hope.
Annie is known for her authentic relationship-building, her donor-first approach, and her ability to turn complex community challenges into compelling calls to action. She has raised millions in philanthropic revenue across workplace campaigns, major gifts, legacy giving, and corporate social responsibility, and has secured transformational support from institutions, foundations, and community partners.
Before joining United Way, Annie worked with organizations such as World Relief, and Friends of Youth, developing grant strategies, building community coalitions, and advancing programs that support women, children, immigrants, and families on the margins.
Beyond her professional work, Annie is a storyteller, mentor, and advocate for women—especially Black, immigrant, and ALICE women who are navigating systems not built with them in mind.
Annie holds an MBA in Finance and Organizational Leadership from Maryville University in St. Louis. She is driven by faith, guided by purpose, and grounded in the belief that communities rise when people show up for one another.
