Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate the histories, cultures, traditions and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities across Pierce County and throughout the nation.
United Way of Pierce County invites you to celebrate, learn and connect by taking part in local events and activities happening throughout the month. From art and literature to family activities and community conversations, there are many ways to experience and honor the rich cultures that help make our community stronger.

Hojalata Workshop with Artist Vaquero Azul

Celebrate Latine/x Heritage Month through art at this special workshop with artist Vaquero Azul. Participants will explore hojalata, the traditional Mexican art of creating decorative works from tin.

Join Tacoma Public Library's Books on Tap for a community discussion of Citizenship: Notes on an American Myth by Cuban-Colombian American author Daisy Hernández, the 2026 adult selection for Tacoma Reads.
The book explores citizenship, immigration, belonging and what it means to call America home.

University of Washington Tacoma
Join author Daisy Hernández for the headline event of Tacoma Reads 2026. Hernández will discuss her book Citizenship: Notes on an American Myth during an evening of reading and conversation at the University of Washington Tacoma.
The free community event will also include a Q&A and book signing. Advance registration is encouraged.
