Irena had been using Paratransit for years, and when she no longer was able to use their service to make it to her regular medical appointments, she was searching for an alternative when she called 211 for help finding rental assistance. During that call, she mentioned that she missed several follow-up appointments with her doctor because she was unable to get there. 211 sent an application to Volunteer Services, and she has been able to use them for all her medical appointments since, Irena said they’ve been wonderful, getting her door to door, and that the one call to 211 helped solve the two biggest challenges she’s had since going on permanent disability. “With 211’s help, I was able to stay in my home and become more mobile as well with the help of Volunteer Services!”
