Now more than ever, we need to come together for ALICE.
Rising costs, economic uncertainty, and changing public policies continue to deepen financial hardship for thousands of families in Pierce County and across Washington.
These are our neighbors who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE)—working hard but struggling to afford even the basics.
Join Us
United Way of Pierce County invites you to join us for this important virtual community conversation.
Hear from Dr. Stephanie Hoopes, National Director of United For ALICE®, Jim Cooper of United Ways of the Pacific Northwest, Katie Condit, CEO of Workforce Central, and the United Way of Pierce County team as we present the 2026 ALICE data update and explore how today's economic realities are affecting local households.
Why It Matters
In 2024, 37% of Washington households—more than one in three—were living below the ALICE Threshold, meaning they were either living in poverty or were ALICE. In Pierce County, 35% of households fell below the ALICE Threshold.
These families face impossible decisions every day: paying for groceries or a medical bill, rent or a car repair. They are the child care providers, grocery clerks, home health aides, delivery drivers, and countless other essential workers who keep our communities running.
As financial pressures continue to grow, understanding the challenges facing ALICE households has never been more important.
Be Part of the Conversation
This is a critical opportunity for community leaders, employers, nonprofit partners, policymakers, and residents to come together, learn about the latest data, and explore how we can support ALICE families across Pierce County.
We hope you'll join us.
