The Work Doesn’t End Here

211: South Sound, 1 of 3 households in Pierce County comprises working individuals in Pierce County who are struggling to make ends meet who represent ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed). That is why we took on the bold goal to lift 15,000 families with children out of poverty and into financial stability by 2028. And we took on an even bolder goal for this centennial campaign of raising $8 million so we can continue and accelerate the work in our critical impact areas of Basic Needs, 211 and Center for Strong Families.

The work continues to reach our bold goal of lifting 15,000 families out of poverty by 2028. To date, through your investments and our community partners, 7,800 families are moving towards self-sufficiency and on their way to building wealth. Solving poverty is complex and United Way of Pierce County has a unique role. We bring people together like no other organization in our community by doing work that would otherwise not occur. With your help, we unite diverse stakeholders to find solutions that magnify, not duplicate, one another’s work—to break the cycle of poverty.

For the Centennial Gala, we raised a total of $540,000, allowing us to continue lifting 15,000 families out of poverty. Throughout the evening we had the opportunity to reflect on United Way’s 100 years of service and our impact in our community. We heard compelling stories from our speakers and Billy, who participated in our Center for Strong Families program. We were all inspired by his journey of overcoming adversity. It was a truly uplifting and memorable evening.

Thanks to our wonderful “Hope Builder” sponsors DaVita and U.S. Bank, volunteers and staff, whose dedication and hard work help ensure families have access to resources, so they continue to move toward greater stability.

Once again, thank you for joining us at the Creating Possibilities Together Gala. We are truly grateful for your belief in our work and look forward to continuing our work together to create a brighter future for all.

The work doesn't end here! Let's keep Living United.
