Pete Grignon is a CPA and Chief Financial Officer for United Way of Pierce County in Tacoma Washington. Pete has been with United Way for 37 years, following 8 years as a manager with AT&T.
In his time at United Way, he has received clean audits, including compliance audits for the federal Combined Federal Campaign and local, county and state governments. Other highlights include:
- Serving on the United Way system Financial Issues Committee, where he assisted in creating standards in the areas of financial accountability and transparency for the United Way system
- 1995 Chair of the United Way National Financial Roundtable
- 2008 Nominee for local CFO of the year
- 2014 Nominee for United Way system Finance Leader of the Year
- Played a significant role in starting the United Way of Pierce County endowment in 2008 which has grown to over $6M
- Stepped outside of his CFO role to become a project manager for the renovation of the United Way of Pierce County building which houses several nonprofits with below market rent
He also volunteers on the board of a national unemployment trust for nonprofits overseeing $100M of investments where he has served as Board Chair, Finance Committee Chair, Investment Chair, Treasurer, Marketing Chair and currently the Labor and Industry Chair.
Working with United Way of Pierce County, Pete has familiarized himself with all aspects of the business: grant writing, reviewing programs for funding, fundraising, and accounting for federal grants.
In his spare time he performs music, traveling to Cabo San Lucas and eating maple bars.
