We wrapped up our Everything But the Turkey Food Drive with our United Way team assembling 35 holiday meal bags last week as part of our holiday celebration! Thanks to everyone who helped assemble the bags, which will provide about 208 meals and will be distributed by the Emergency Food Network to help families in need. Many ALICE (asset-limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households strive to make ends meet and can’t afford the basics. Thanks to all who helped us bridge the gap by supporting the Everything But the Turkey Food Drive.

Pierce County Human Services and the Metropolitan Development Council (MDC) Community Action Programs are conducting a comprehensive assessment to identify strengths, barriers, and resources in the community to meet the needs of children, youth and families.

Thank you to the team at Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department for a marvelous United Way of Pierce County Campaign kickoff! The pie fundraising event went off with no slices left, raising over $2,000 towards the campaign.

Tacoma Public Utilities and the City of Tacoma just wrapped up their campaign with a takeover at Cheers in University Place. Rod Koon and Friends played music and the atmosphere was electric. They raised a lot of money for United Way of Pierce County! Here are a few pictures from the event.

September 25, 2023, Tacoma, Wash. — United Way of Pierce County (UWPC) proudly introduces its Campaign Co-Chairs for the 2023/2024 fundraising drive: Beth Johnson and Michael D. Griffus.

In their volunteer roles, Johnson and Griffus will spearhead workplace campaign goals, engaging with over 300 participating companies across Pierce County to garner crucial support.

August 17, 2023 – Pierce County, Wash. — Exciting news! United Way of Pierce County is now a 
partner of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Families with children aged 0-5 in Pierce County can 
register to receive a free book every month until their child's fifth birthday, delivered directly 
to their home.

We celebrate Volunteer Champion Willie Stewart, and commemorate Willie Stewart's leadership and commitment to the people of Pierce County annually through the Willie Stewart Community Service Scholarship. Willie is pictured here with United Way of Pierce County President and CEO, Dona Ponepinto, left, along with 2022 scholarship recipients. Pierce County high school seniors are encouraged to apply by May 1, 2023.
